The VéloSoleX is an important part of
French culture and history and is still extremely popular with
enthusiasts and collectors today. Alongside the Citroën 2CV, affectionately known as the « Ente » (Duck) in Germany, hardly any other vehicle is as strongly associated with France as the VéloSoleX.

In the early/mid 1970s, the French way of life also found its way to Germany and the VéloSoleX appealed as an inexpensive, simple and efficient means of transportation. And, of course, this is particularily true of the students in Heidelberg, where the VéloSoleX characterised the cityscape, just as it did in many university towns.

At our VéloSoleX meeting, taking place for the first time in Heidelberg, we want to discuss the history of the VéloSoleX and the personal stories of people connected with the VéloSoleX.

The meeting will take place as part of the French Week Heidelberg and is aimed at all friends of the VéloSoleX as well as the interested public.

In principle, any person over the age of 15 who is authorised to ride a moped is eligible to take part in the ride and the competitions. The vehicle must have an operating licence, be insured for the 2024/25 traffic year and be in a technically perfect and roadworthy condition.
The applicable traffic regulations and mutual consideration must be observed at all times during the ride. Helmets are compulsory without exception!

By participating, the participant agrees that the organiser excludes any liability for damage, injury or loss that may occur during or in connection with the ride and/or the competitions. The participant further agrees to indemnify the organiser against any claims, lawsuits or demands that may arise from the participation in the event.

ACCESS AND ACCOMMODATION

Parking at Wilhelmsplatz and in the district (Weststadt) is only possible to a limited extent, see also parking regulations Heidelberg-Weststadt. There is a multi-storey car park 300 metres from Wilhelmsplatz at Kleinschmidtstraße 2, which costs 2 euros per hour.
Free parking in Heidelberg is available at Neuer Messplatz (Harbigweg 3, 69124 Heidelberg). From here it is 10 minutes by Solex to Wilhelmsplatz.

Overnight accommodation can be found via the well-known providers, but also under Heidelberg Marketing - Hotels. If you are looking for camping and caravan sites, you will find them under Heidelberg Marketing - Camping.
